What is Self-Levelling Screed?
Our self-levelling screed is designed to provide a smooth level surface in both commercial and domestic buildings prior to the application of floor finishes. It can be used bonded, unbonded or floating and with or without underfloor heating system. Our team are also able to design, supply and install all types of underfloor heating systems, ideal for use with our floor screed. Visit our underfloor heating screed page for more information on the best application.
We can deliver a variety of solutions for levelling screed. Our formulation can be finished with a self levelling compound on top of the SR2 certified screed surface. For more details on our self-levelling surfaces, please visit our page on self-levelling compounds.
With many advantages over traditional floor screeding practices, our self-levelling screed is proving increasingly popular in both the commercial and residential sectors. Utilising an efficient delivery system, our self-levelling screed can cover over 1000 square meters each day, whilst avoiding substantial labour costs and the added implications, such as barrow damage to door frames and under floor heating pipes. Self-levelling screed can be pumped from a single vehicle on site, offering a full service regardless of the location in South-East England.
In commercial settings, a minimum thickness of 40mm of screed is recommended. For domestic applications a minimum thickness of no less than 35mm should be applied. The surface finish of gyvlon bonded self-levelling concrete is self levelling, and will meet the surface regulation classification 2 for normal standard accuracy floors. For further levelling we offer a range of levelling compound solutions. More information can be found on our self-levelling compound page.
We recommend the British Standard 8203 screed drying time of 1 day per 1mm of thickness up to a maximum of 40mm of thickness, and an additional day for every additional mm of thickness. However, our Gyvlon binder based floor screed is specially formulated for quick drying. The surfaces of our floor screed can be walked on or bare light loads within 24-48 hours. This allows construction to continue much more quickly than with traditional screeds or floor finishes, reducing labour costs and keeping your project within budget.
Our self-levelling screed composition is specially designed to minimise cracking or fracturing and for the lowest possible level of shrinkage. This means a single speedy application is all that is needed, and touching up, finishing and detailing are kept to a minimum. Our self-levelling floor screed also requires no reinforcement of the underlying insulation layer. These factors helps you to keep your project on budget and on time.
